Kefalonia

Island in Greece, Ionian Islands

The largest island of the Ionian Islands, Kefalonia is adorned with bare limestone mountains, the beautiful “green” island of Kefalonia is separated from the rocky island of Ithaca by a channel of 2 nm wide and is almost cut in two by the long bay of Molos on the east side. Argostoli one of the safest in the Mediterranean, while the isthmus is only 600 meters wide. One place that can attract all sailors is Fiskardo, a fishing village that has become an international sailboat on the north end of the island. Another meeting point for the sailing crew as a safe berth is Agia Efimia, to the east. The coastline of Kefalonia generally forms many bays and capes. The coasts are mostly rocky and steep on the Ionian side, and have milder forms on the eastern side. One of the most famous beaches is that of Myrtos.
